CLOSING SOON: QUEENSLAND SCREENWRITING AWARD 📖🎉 Submissions for GCFF’s Queensland Screenwriting Award close this Sunday! Open to feature film scripts from Queensland-based writers, the winner of the Queensland Screenwriting Award will receive a $5,000 cash prize thanks to The Heaton Group, and the opportunity to take part in a live script read with actors at the 2020 Gold Coast Film Festival. Second and third place winners will also receive $500 cash and winners will be announced at the prestigious Screen Industry Gala Awards at the festival in April. Submissions close Sunday 2 February. In case you missed it! 📣 Nominations are open for two new industry awards: Queensland Screen Business of the Year and Gold Coast Screen Professional of the Year. We're looking for screen businesses and individuals who demonstrated significant achievements in 2019. Achievements could include: completed projects, project announcements, promotions, increases in business size or investment, invitations to speak at events/festivals, distribution of content, award nominations/wins, board/leadership appointments or new innovations. 🎥✨ Nominations are free and we welcome self-nominations or nominations on behalf of others. The winners of each award will be announced at the prestigious Screen Industry Gala Awards during the 2020 Festival. Nominations close Feb 2nd. End of Year Screen Industry Drinks - Speaker announcement! 🎬✨ ⠀ ⠀ We're delighted to introduce our second panelist for this Friday’s screen industry event, Brett Thornquest! ⠀ Brett has a 15 year+ history of providing specialist advisory, consulting and financing services to Australian and international film and television productions, government organisations, banks, distributors, sales agents, completion guarantors, US studios and Networks via his Contrarian Group of companies. Prior to forming the Contrarian Group, Brett began his entertainment industry career with Moneypenny Services, working on the set of multiple film/television projects as a production accountant. In 2013, Brett was also a founding partner of the Eclectik Vision group, a creative media entertainment company, focusing on the development, financing and production of film and television properties. To date Eclectik has produced or co-produced 7 films and most recently in 2019, it was involved in the formation of a boutique Australian based distribution company - Entertainment Advocate - with the capability to selectively release feature films in all media. Brett joins our 'New Kids on the Block' panel about new innovations, new businesses and new faces in the screen industry on the Gold Coast, to chat about his producing experience and new distribution company, Entertainment Advocate.
